Xiaomi Wireless power bank (model PLM11ZM) – with 10,000mAh battery capacity is the first Xiaomi device used as a backup power bank with wireless charging function. I recently purchased this product and would like to share my first thoughts.
In the box with the device there is also a user manual and a short USB cable (on one side the A-type connector fits large inputs, on the other side the C-type connector fits e.g. Xiaomi Mi 9). The power bank itself is additionally placed in a foam foil (probably to avoid scratches during the crossing). It looks very professional, and you can see that the details have been taken care of.
Unfortunately, the manual is in Chinese, so I can not learn much from it, but the specification of the device itself is on the box, and does not require the understanding of Mandarin. The specification of PLM11ZM based on lithium-polymer cells is as follows:
Battery capacity: 10000mAh 3,7V (37Wh)
Input interface: USB-C
Output interface: USB-A / USB-C
Input: 5 V 3 A / 9 V 2 A / 12 V 1,5 A
Output: USB-A (single port used): 5V2.4A / 9V2A / 12V1.5A 18W MAX
USB-C (single port used): 5V3A / 9V2A / 12V11,5A 18W MAX
USB-A USB-C: (both at once): 5V3A 15W MAX
Wireless output: 10W MAX (compatible with Qi)
Size: 147.9 * 71.6 * 18.4 mm
The device has a graphite color, falling into some purple/olive. The housing is made of aluminium. Wireless charging part has a black, glued some kind of silicone or rubber (very thin), so that the phone lying on it does not slip, even if the power bank lies slightly inclined.
On one of the shorter sides there is a black sticker that must be removed in order to access the charging ports. Below it there is a button that activates the device (black rectangle), next to it there is a seledium diode (pale) indicating that the device is working (slow blinking), next to it there are smaller, four white diodes indicating the level of charge of the device by turning on the device for a short while. A fully charged power bank lights up (pulsed) with four LEDs, a discharged one cuts off the ignition of the next LED. Next to it are the USB-C sockets – which are used both to charge the power bank and to connect with other devices to charge them with battery power. Then there is the USB type A, which is used to charge the devices with a larger plug. I tested the USB ports to see if they work, and everything was correct. I did not measure the charge (how long it takes) because it depends on the phone, the level of battery consumption in it, and even may be affected by the temperature (currently 34.5 in the shade). The manufacturer ensures that in 1 hour and 25 minutes we will charge Mi 9 to full capacity. The quality of the inputs seems to be very good. The subtitles underneath are engraved, so they won't wear off over time (that's a big plus).
The manufacturer states that it is possible to charge 3 devices at once (using 2 USB + wireless connections).
Does it work? Yes! What I was able to check was to charge Mi 9 wirelessly using a Samsung Wireless Charger Convertible charger connected via USB-C/USB-C cable to the power bank. And also thanks to the USB-A/USB-C cable (and a micro-USB converter) – the JBL blutooth earphones (T110BT model). And the third device – Samsung Galaxy S8+ wirelessly. All in the same time.
Tip 1: Xiaomi Mi 9 charges wirelessly on this device much faster than on the Samsung Wireless Charger (with Fast Charge) EP-PG950. This may be because I use a closed case on both sides (glass on the back and front, metal frame with magnets).
Tip 2: The device charges the phone wirelessly when it is plugged in. It seems to me that at the moment it is not charging itself, but only the phone. But when you take the phone with you, it goes into self-charging mode. So it is suitable as a temporary wireless charger (with an energy reserve in case you leave). In my opinion, this is a great option, the more so because the price of this charger at the moment is at the level of wireless chargers, and we gain backup power.
Am I satisfied with the product? Absolutely! The quality of the product is at a high level, and the device has a dark color (I like it in electronics). It works properly and charges wirelessly faster than I expected. It is an ideal element for traveling, where I can easily pull out my phone, power bank, and recharge without playing with cables, terminals or snooping. It just works! :)
The device was purchased for 136 PLN (with the package) using the opportunity found on the peppers (now you can find them even cheaper).
They were tested with the devices: Xiaomi Mi 9 (transparent edition, Qi), Samsung Galaxy S8+ (Qi), Xiamo Redmi 3S/Prime (wired), JBL T110BT headphones (wired).
